NAPD provides support and assistance to newly appointed Principals and Deputy Principals through a carefully selected network of recently retired Principals, Deputy Principals, current Principals and Deputy Principals.

NAPD Region 6 Leadership Facilitator & Personnel

Mr. Jim Twohig (retired Principal of John the Baptist Community School) is the local facilitator for Region 6. 
Members can contact Jim to arrange for a private and discreet discussion on any leadership matter or to enquire about training days in Leadership. Training days for newly appointed Principals and Deputy Principals will be facilitated in either the Limerick Education Centre or Tralee Education Centre from January 2015 onwards.

The National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD) at second level, and the Irish Primary Principals’ Network (IPPN)  offer a range of supports for newcomers. They also offer ongoing assistance to those in the job.
The Department of Education & Skills has decided to spend €3m over the next three years on a new centre for Leadership suppport, with postgraduate qualifications for those interested in becoming leaders to be the focus this year.


Centre for School Leadership 

The National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD) at second level, and the Irish Primary Principals’ Network (IPPN) at primary level have entered into a partnership with the Department of Education and Skills to establish the Centre for School Leadership. The CSL will offer a range of supports for aspiring, newly appointed and serving school leaders.

Ms Mary Nihill is the Director and Ms Máire Ní Bhróithe is the Deputy Director for post-primary. Ms Anna-Mai Rooney is the Deputy Director Primary.
